Payam Mehrshahi, Ana Teresa Gonçalves, and Daniel Figueiredo had the privilege of lecturing at the online comprehensive EIT-Food Algal Biotechnology Professional Development Course, organized by the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS, UK), in collaboration with Fraunhofer IGB (Germany) and Matis (Iceland).
During the session “What are algae and what can you do with them?”, chaired by Dr. Matthew Davey, they explored the vast potential of algae as a sustainable solution to global challenges. From nutrition to aquaculture, they have shown that algae are not just ordinary organisms, but versatile biofactories capable of supporting more sustainable value chains, providing concrete examples of algae-based applications employed and developed by GreenCoLab, as well as practices and methodologies.
