About me
António Félix is a technician in the Biorefinery group at GreenCoLab. He holds a BSc in Biotechnology and an MSc in Molecular Biotechnology and Bioengineering from the University of Aveiro. His MSc thesis, “Enzymes and Alternative Solvents”, was developed at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials within the PATh – Process and Product Applied Thermodynamics research group, where he designed and optimised liquid–liquid and aqueous biphasic systems for the recovery of enzymes and the removal of pharmaceutical contaminants from aqueous media, screening phase-forming components such as polyethylene glycols, polypropylene glycol, zwitterionic compounds and ionic liquids, and quantifying target compounds by HPLC and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Earlier in his MSc, he worked on the cultivation of microalgae (Chlorella vulgaris and Arthrospira platensis)and on the extraction and characterisation of bioactive compounds from the resulting biomass. He then joined C-MADE (University of Beira Interior) as a laboratory R&D technician, developing sustainable materials from industrial residues and contributing to technical reporting and European funding proposals.
In 2026, he joined GreenCoLab as a Technician in the Biorefinery group, contributing to downstream processing and valorisation strategies for microalgae and seaweed biomass.
