Gonçalo Espírito Santo is a PhD student at University of Algarve. He holds a Bachelor degree in Biology, from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, from Instituto Superior Técnico da Universidade de Lisboa. His master’s thesis, developed in partnership with Allmicroalgae, was focused on auto and heterotrophic cultivation of promising microalgae strains with industrial production relevance. After his graduation, he continued working in microalgae cultivation, not only in the context of research projects, but also as part of the fermentation production team. Now, Gonçalo began his PhD, in partnership with Allmicroalgae and GreenColab. He believes microalgae hold the key to a more sustainable future, being one of his biggest motivations to work in this area.
