The GreenCoLab phycologist Madalena Mendes had a Poster of her work, “Asexual reproductioon in Porphyra umbilicalis Kützing (Bangiales, Rhodophyta) and its development for cultivation in a land-based IMTA system, in Portugal” on display during the virtual event of the 7th Congress of the International Society for Applied Phycology 2021 (ISAP), during May 14th to August 13th.
Her work, developed at AlgaPlus, Aveiro, aimed for the “Cultivation of asexual P. umbilicalis in an IMTA land-based system”, with subsequent reduction of operational costs, while avoiding “the conchocelis stage” and also aiming for the “increase production capacity and profitability”.
