This year, Faro, in the heart of the Algarve, was the setting chosen for the Annual Face-to-Face Meeting of the LOCALITY project, an initiative dedicated to creating circular and sustainable value chains based on algae. The event took place at the Hotel Eva from 7 to 8 April 2025.

As a community committed to ecological innovation, this meeting marked a significant milestone in our mission to reduce waste flows and develop environmentally responsible products. For two intense days, the project partners met to share ideas, align strategies and plan the next steps in this collaborative project. The programme included productive work sessions, social and leisure time, and technical visits to two of our local partners: Necton, a specialist in microalgae biotechnology, and Sparos , an innovative company developing nutritional solutions for aquaculture.

The meeting was attended by several GreenCoLab researchers, who have played a key role in advancing the LOCALITY project. Among them were Bernardo Carvalho and Mariam Klolany from the GreenCoLab Biorefinery WG , Florinda Gama from the Biofertilisers WG, and Lais Speranza, responsible for the Sustainability strand. These and other team members brought their experience, vision and enthusiasm, contributing to rich discussions and moments of true collaboration.

This meeting reinforced the commitment of everyone involved to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable economic model based on the valorisation of natural resources such as algae.
