For a week, GreenCoLab was present at the Algarve Design Meeting (ADM), transforming the Old Beer Factory in Faro into a meeting point for science, art and education. At the heart of this dynamic space was the children’s book ‘The Green of Blue – Discovering Algae’, published by GreenCoLab in partnership with PROALGA, which served as the starting point for a series of interactive activities.

Schools and families were enthusiastically welcomed by Fátima PereiraMaria EduardaSofia Navalho, and Ana Ramos, who led a range of fun and educational activities. The children took part in themed games about the world of algae, explored algae under the microscope, felt and smelt macroalgae, listened to animated readings from the book and got involved in creative challenges that mixed science with artistic expression.

Each activity was designed to arouse curiosity and promote blue literacy in an accessible and fun way. In an immersive environment inspired by design, visitors discovered how algae are present in our daily lives – from food to sustainability – reinforcing their ecological and economic importance.

More than an exhibition, the GreenCoLab space at ADM was an invitation to discovery and dialogue between generations, where learning was synonymous with playing, creating and imagining a future with more green and more blue.
