On 1 and 2 September 2025, the final conference of ParAqua EU COST Action, a European initiative dedicated to strengthening scientific cooperation around the study of zoosporan parasites and their impact on aquatic ecosystems and algae biotechnology, was held in Zagreb, Croatia.

GreenCoLab was represented by researcher Gabriel Bombo, Culture Collection Platform Manager at the Industrial Biotechnology Algae Bank (IBAB).

In his speech, Gabriel presented the work carried out at IBAB, whose mission is to maintain a collection of micro and macroalgae isolates and support universities and companies in solving ecological and biotechnological challenges, also contributing to the development of new bio-based products.

According to Gabriel Bombo,” it was a great experience to be able to share the platform’s activities such as our ongoing research projects, and prospects including potential collaborations and future developments, with the ParAqua community.”

The session also featured presentations of other work, fostering a dynamic and productive discussion among participants and reinforcing ParAqua’s relevance in building international collaborations that drive the future of algae biotechnology and the sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.
