GreenCoLab was present at the 10th edition of Festival F, which took place in Faro between 4 and 7 September, the last major summer festival in Portugal, combining music, culture, social gatherings and even a space dedicated to children: the Fagar Kids tent.

On the opening night, GreenCoLab ran several interactive workshops for children aged 6 to 10, inspired by the recently launched illustrated children’s book “O Verde do Azul – À Descoberta das Algas”(The Green of Blue – Discovering Algae).

Among the activities on offer were the creation of a bookmark with macroalgae, observing algae under a microscope and various fun challenges that stimulated ocean literacy. All sessions were accompanied by GreenCoLab researchers, who shared knowledge and curiosities about the fascinating world of algae, its multiple applications and the essential role it plays in preserving the environment.

GreenCoLab’s participation in Festival F, at the invitation of FAGAR, reinforces the institution’s commitment to bringing science closer to society and to valuing the marine resources of the Algarve and Portugal.

At the end of the session, each child took home a copy of the book, published in partnership with PROALGA, along with a fun and enriching experience in science, which also served as an educational tool on sustainability.
