Pint of Science is an international science communication festival that brings researchers and the public together in informal settings, creating opportunities to discuss scientific topics in an accessible and engaging way.

Last Wednesday, Lais Galileu Speranza, leader of GreenCoLab’s Sustainability Working Group, participated in the Pint of Science Portugal event in Faro, delivering a presentation titled “Algae in Sustainability: What Are They Used For and Where Can They Be Found?” at the Coral University Bar.

During the presentation, Lais Galileu Speranza explored the growing importance of algae as a resource for sustainable development. The talk highlighted the diverse applications of algae across multiple sectors, including food production, cosmetics, agriculture, and aquaculture, demonstrating their potential to support more sustainable industrial practices and innovative products.

The presentation also showcased the work being developed by GreenCoLab to advance research, innovation, and commercialization within the algae sector, contributing to the development of sustainable solutions and a growing blue bioeconomy.

The event provided an opportunity for dialogue between researchers and the local community, fostering greater awareness of the environmental, economic, and technological potential of algae and their role in addressing future sustainability challenges.
