GreenCoLab was represented by Bernardo Carvalho , a PhD student, and Inês Guerra , Project Manager at the Biorefinery, at the kick-off meeting for the European UNCOVER project, held from 30 September to 2 October at the premises of the Aragon Institute of Technology (ITA) in Zaragoza, Spain.
Coordinated by the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón, ITA, UNCOVER project brings together 19 partners from eight European countries, including the GreenCoLab, to accelerate the development and industrial application of technologies for the capture and utilisation of carbon dioxide (CO₂).
The aim is to transform captured CO₂ into a raw material for new products and materials, helping to reduce dependence on fossil resources and promote a more circular economy. Among the products to be developed are microalgae biomass and pigments, as well as fuels, microbial protein and construction materials. The technologies will be tested using CO₂ from real industrial sources and assessed for their environmental impact, economic viability and potential for larger-scale application.
The participation of Bernardo Carvalho and Inês Guerra in this meeting marked the GreenCoLab team’s involvement at the start of the consortium’s work.
Funded by the Horizon Europe program, UNCOVER project began in September 2026 and will run for four years.
