GreenCoLab has traveled to Aveiro to join Encontro Ciência 2023, which took place from the 5th to the 7th of July. Aiming to showcase novel algae-based applications and biosolutions, from algae LEDs systems, algae-beer and algae-kombucha, to the biostimulants and biopesticides effects of algae in ornamental plants, GreenCoLab was present with a dedicated booth located in the University of Aveiro, together with several national entities, where the 3-day event unfolded.
During the event, we were honored to receive the presence of António Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Dean of the University of Aveiro, among other members of the opening committee at our booth, experiencing and interacting with GreenCoLab’s algae-based demos, that have been the focus of development within the scope of SEAWEED2PLANT, PERFORMALGAE, ALGAESOLUTIONS projects.
Also, GreenCoLab represented by Daniel Mendonça Silva, Dissemination Officer, was present in two thematic sessions:
July 5th | “Emprego e Economia Azul Circular e Sustentável” (“Employment and the Circular and Sustainable Blue Economy”), addressing GreenCoLab’s agenda and promoting Algae Vertical project. This session was organized by B2E Blue Bioeconomy CoLAB, +ATLANTIC , S2AQUAcoLAB and GreenCoLab.
July 6th | “Oportunidades e Desafios na Inovação Alimentar” (“Opportunities and Challenges in Food Innovation”), debating the process of innovation in algae food research and prototyping within the core of GreenCoLab. This session was organized by Colab4Food, MORE – Laboratório Colaborativo Montanhas de Investigação and GreenCoLab.
With the motto of “Ciência e Oceano para Além do Horizonte” (“Science and Ocean beyond the horizon”), the biggest national science meeting brought together great figures of science and government for plenary and thematic sessions dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and enhancement of the blue economy.
