Vacancy Purpose
ASSOCIAÇÃO OCEANO VERDE – LABORATÓRIO COLABORATIVO PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DE TECNOLOGIAS E PRODUTOS VERDES DO OCEANO (hereinafter referred to as GreenCoLAB) opens a recruitment and selection competition for 1 (one) Life Cycle Assessment Specialist position within the Sustainability Working Group (SWG).
The candidate will join the Sustainability team to perform Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), economic analysis and social assessment of algae (microalgae and seaweed) production, processing, products, and also benchmark products, according to the GCL projects.
Tasks:
- Perform life cycle inventories of different algal bioprocesses, including the collection of data in terms of production and processing at laboratory, pilot and industrial scales;
- Develop life cycle analysis to assess the environmental, social and economic sustainability of algae production;
- Calculate nature credits and ecosystem services of algae systems and products.
- Produce deliverables, reports and presentations on results and ongoing activities to partners, funding bodies and other stakeholders.
Profile required:
- MSc or PhD level – Environmental engineering, biological engineering, biotechnology, life science, or related fields;
- Experience in life cycle analysis methodologies;
- Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.
Other Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in LCA software (e.g., OpenLCA, GABI, SimaPro);
- Experience in algae bioprocesses;
- Be strongly motivated, demonstrate autonomy and the ability to propose new approaches;
- PhD is a differential.
Position Details:
Starting Date: The contract is scheduled to start in June 2026.
Workplace: The activities will be carried out at GreenCoLab headquarters in Faro, Portugal.
Work schedule: Full-time (35 hours a week).
