GreenCoLab recently organised a two-day programme as part of the Blue Shuttle Project (Interreg Atlantic Area), bringing together national and international stakeholders to promote the exchange of knowledge, strengthen links, and explore new opportunities for collaboration within the blue bioeconomy.
The programme began with the interactive workshop Aboard the Blue Shuttle: towards partnership and innovation’, where participants shared expertise, discussed common challenges and identified potential collaboration and future areas of cooperation.
A key highlight was the roundtable discussion “Charting the course: opportunities and challenges, moderated by GreenCoLab’s Innovation Manager, Payam Mehrshahi. The discussion featured Jordan Tallec, Emmanuel Dechandol, Mariana Titica, Antoine Richard, Hugo Pereira, and focused on the opportunities and challenges shaping the blue innovation ecosystem and the role of partnerships in transforming knowledge into impact.
Representatives from GreenCoLab’s partner organisations CIIMAR, SPAROS, Allmicroalgae and PhytoBloom – Microalgae by Necton also contributed to the debate, adding perspectives from research and industry.
On the second day, the international delegation visited Necton, SPAROS and the Centre for Marine Sciences (CCMAR), gaining a closer insight into the expertise, infrastructure and innovation capabilities that support the development of the blue bioeconomy in the Algarve.
The programme was also attended by a French delegation representing Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique, Innovalg and the AlgoSolis R&D Centre, creating new opportunities for exchange between Portuguese and international organisations.
Through initiatives such as the Blue Shuttle, GreenCoLab continues to foster links between research, industry and innovation, supporting the development of collaborative networks and new opportunities within the blue bioeconomy.
