GreenCoLab took part in the 45th edition of FATACIL – the Lagoa Fair of Handicrafts, Tourism, Agriculture, Trade and Industry, held from 21 to 30 August in Lagoa, in the Algarve, as part of a joint participation with KIPT CoLAB focused on tourism, S2AQUAcoLAB on sustainable aquaculture and ABC CoLAB on health.
The joint presence of the four Algarve Collaborative Laboratories at FATACIL gave visitors the opportunity to discover the research being carried out across the region. Together, GreenCoLab, KIPT CoLAB, S2AQUAcoLAB and ABC CoLAB highlighted how science can support new products, services and solutions in the fields of algae biotechnology, tourism, sustainable aquaculture and health.
For GreenCoLab, the fair provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the potential of microalgae and macroalgae amongst a wider audience, exploring their applications in areas such as food, cosmetics and agriculture, as well as their role in making better use of natural resources.
By taking science beyond the laboratory and into regional events, the four CoLABs help to make research more accessible, encourage curiosity and strengthen links with the community. Their joint presence sends a clear message: science belongs to everyone, and its value increases when knowledge is shared.
